COLLINGWOOD HOLIDAY HOUSE GOLDEN BAY
The house is sited on a narrow terrace above Collingwood Beach, surrounded by bush, with an uninterrupted view across Golden Bay from Farewell Spit to Separation Point. When viewed from the beach the house blends in with the bush and does not look large with the 2 storied portion being located on the hill side. Yet when one approaches the house from below it has a commanding presence accentuated by the mighty jarrah poles and projecting gable which welcomes visitors on to the property. The house opens out in all directions so the red front door is the obvious entry point and leads one into the open living area.
The kitchen, lit by a skylight, is located in the middle looking out across the dining and sitting areas to the sea. Materials have been chosen to provide low maintenance. Linea weatherboards, colorsteel roofing and aluminium windows with jarrah posts and lawson cypress exposed timber work outside. Inside sustainably managed beech floors, stairs and trim, gib and plywood to walls and ceilings. The exposed trusses incorporate Lawson cypress and stainless steel connectors. The kitchen carries on the material theme using stainless steel, tiles, vibrant blue and jarrah.
