saxton_construction Oval Utility Buildingsaxton_construction Oval Utility Building is a Nelson City Council project that will provide a new base for the cricket oval grounds men, a players' lounge, media room, scorers area, changing rooms and public toilets. It is scheduled for completion before Christmas. The design is split over two levels allowing for access from ground level and from the top of the embankment. The curved façade offers a dynamic and sympathetic architectural response to the cricket oval. Precast concrete panels and long-run iron cladding offer durable, subtle cladding solutions for this building and a palette of natural earthy colours help reduce the dominance of the building against the landscape as you approach from any direction. Sustainability features of this project include rainwater collection and re-use for flushing the toilets, LED low energy light fittings and natural ventilation. Architect: Jorgen Andersen |
