Trafalgar Centre Redevelopment Western Side

This project, along the western edge of the building, completes the works initially earmarked in the southern upgrade of the Trafalgar Centre.

The current works include the removal of the stage and the construction of a permanent raked seating area, construction of new dressing rooms, change rooms, a fist aid room and additional fire egress points under the existing seating/stage area. A corridor linking the dressing areas to back of stage has also been added outside the building.

The dressing areas consist of a main dressing room with a kitchenette, lounge area, large wardrobe and make-up table, two other smaller dressing areas and a large mixed area all with shower and toilet faculties. Mobile make-up tables have been designed to allow the mixed dressing room to be used for a variety of uses.

All of the dressing areas open to a new translucent corridor connecting to the stage area and providing back of house access for performers. The exterior wall of the corridor is constructed of Kalwall – an insulated translucent double skinned exterior cladding that provides soft interior day lighting to the corridor while glowing at night. A steel portal structure frames this wall.

Two new change rooms have also been added to provide additional changing space for those times when the stadium is at full capacity and also to provide areas that could be used as media spaces or referee change areas/drug testing rooms when there is a large sporting event on at the Centre.

The addition of a first aid room and associated toilet completes the interior fitout. New egress ramps from the corridor and fire egress points will be added, completing this work.
