2009 National Awards

Arthouse Architecture Director, Min Hall, was part of the jury for the NZIA National Awards for Architecture this year.

"Though time consuming - it involved eleven days travelling New Zealand looking at short listed projects - it was an extremely rewarding experience," says Min. "We got to see, analyse and discuss in depth some of the best architectural projects in the country."

This year a new awards system was introduced. Over one hundred entries in ten categories were shortlisted down to forty one projects that were visited by the five member jury in late February. Convened by Gerald Parsonson of Wellington the jury was made up of Min Hall from Nelson, Geoff Richards from Auckland, Guy Cleverley from Wellington and Timothy Hill from Brisbane.

The awards were announced at a Gala Dinner at Auckland's Sky City in late May with eighteen awards being announced in the different categories and one outstanding project receiving the inaugural New Zealand Architecture Medal.
